About the Business
KAZ was originally developed by Gotham New Media, a company that specialises in accelerated keyboard training and Repetitive Strain Injury protection. CEO and Founder Mark Meakings has worked extensively in the training industry for many years and previously built a national training business around pre-programmed training methods he conceived and developed. Through feedback from over 18,000 people a year using his training courses, Mark realised that many of them needed to learn basic keyboard skills.
He researched the problem and discovered that most methods used were based around the old fashioned drilling methods originally developed for the manual typewriter. They took people around 15 hours to master. He set about inventing a new method to take the slog out of learning and conceived of KAZ. He chose this name to stand for Keyboard A to Z. He reasoned that people weren't interested in clever programs with games, graphs, analysis and dozens of lessons.
